Over 30 professionals promote regional audiovisual industry at the 28th Málaga Film Festival

The ICIB positions the Balearic Islands as a leading industrial player at an event of proven international projection

Within the framework of the renowned Málaga Film Festival, the Balearic Islands Institute of Cultural Industries (ICIB) led a substantial audiovisual delegation this week. With over 30 regional industry representatives, the delegation showcased the remarkable cinematic potential of the archipelago. Beyond the various screenings scheduled for the 28th edition, this presence was also reflected in the numerous market activities attended by the Balearic audiovisual sector.

The first professionals to leave their mark were Miguel Ángel Marquès, director of the short film "Urtajo", and Carmen Vidal, co-writer and producer of the documentary "Mujel, papel y tijera", which won the Audience Award in the Afirmando los Derechos de las Mujeres section. This recognition complemented the strong reception for the documentary "A un lloc de la ment", directed by Pep Bonet with writing by Catalina Solivellas and José Corbacho.

Meanwhile, the island film commissions joined forces with IBFC to participate in the various initiatives presented at MAFIZ, the industrial division of the festival. Alongside the Spain Film Commission, the Balearic Islands took part in projects such as "La Revolución Silenciosa", focusing on artificial intelligence, and "El impacto de Spain Film Commission en la transformación del sector audiovisual", which highlighted the role of the Spain AVS Hub in positioning Spain as an international audiovisual platform. A new Board of Patrons was also presented to the organisation’s partners, including the Balearic film commissions.

This Thursday, the documentary "Suerte de Pinos", co-produced by the Ibizan company Cine Asako, will be screened as part of the Official Documentary Section. The week will conclude on Friday with the special premiere of "Hoy no es siempre", produced by Pauxa Films and directed by Carmen Vidal. Throughout the week, professional synergies will continue to be fostered at the exclusive space provided by ICIB for the sector.
