The Culture Department launches the first cultural grants map of the Balearic Islands

With this tool, users will be able to filter grants according to artistic discipline, the purpose of the call, the territory of implementation, or the corresponding institution

With the aim of integrating the different cultural grants available in the territory into a single platform, the Balearic Islands Institute of Cultural Industries (ICIB) presented this Wednesday its cultural grants map. This new web application, developed in collaboration with more than 10 public administrations, will allow users to quickly access, filter, and consult all key information regarding funding opportunities for the creative industries of the archipelago. The initiative seeks to make it easier for citizens to find and navigate the grants on offer across the Balearic Islands.

Through this digital tool, users will be able to browse the catalog of available grants for cultural agents in a simple and intuitive way. They will also be able to refine their search using up to four different filters: cultural field, purpose of the call, territory covered by the grant, and the managing administration. Among other options, this functionality will make it possible to find, in just a few clicks, all the grants targeting a specific artistic discipline, or to explore only those tied to a particular island.

“The grants map was created to respond to one of the sector’s long-standing demands,” stated the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Jaume Bauzà. With this new platform, he added, “it will be easier than ever for cultural professionals to discover which grants they can apply for.” For her part, ICIB’s Managing Director, Diana de la Cuadra, highlighted that “this tool is the result of exemplary collective work. Ten entities have joined forces to respond to a historic demand of the sector, and we have done so with a shared vision.”

Also attending the presentation event were several institutional representatives involved in the creation of this tool, including the Regional Secretary for Culture and Sports, Pedro Vidal; the Executive Councillor for Tourism of the Consell de Mallorca, José Marcial Rodríguez; the Managing Director of the Balearic Institute of Studies, Llorenç Perelló; and IB3’s Director of Projects, Programming and Production, Raquel Aguilera. Representatives of various professional associations from across the cultural sectors also attended.

Among the collaborating administrations, and alongside the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports and the ICIB, are the Directorate General of Culture of the Government of the Balearic Islands; the Consell de Mallorca, through the Mallorca Tourism Foundation; the Consell Insular de Menorca, working in collaboration with the Menorca Tourism Promotion Foundation and the Menorca Institute of Studies; the Consell Insular d’Eivissa; the Balearic Institute of Studies; the Ramon Llull Institute; and the Public Broadcasting Corporation of the Balearic Islands.

It should be noted that the project is currently in a pilot phase and will require constant updates in order to achieve full consolidation. In fact, the definitive version of this digital application will eventually be integrated into the ICIB’s future website, scheduled for publication during the last quarter of the year. For now, the tool is available through the following link.
