The digital heart of Balearic culture is born: ICIB launches two new web platforms to support sector professionals

The institution’s website, featuring the Grants Map as its centerpiece, also includes step-by-step instructions to apply for the organization’s subsidies

Meanwhile, the revamped Illes Balears Film Commission portal provides both an updated professional directory and multiple guides for filming permit applications

The Balearic Islands Institute of Cultural Industries (ICIB) presented this Tuesday what will become the new nerve center of its activity. In an event held at the Ca n’Oleo Assembly Hall, the entity unveiled the two platforms that will now define its digital presence. On one hand, the new ICIB website, which opens a new channel of communication with the cultural sectors of the archipelago. On the other hand, a complete renewal of the portal dedicated to the Illes Balears Film Commission, aimed at strengthening institutional support for audiovisual productions carried out within the region.

As for the new ICIB online space, three main functionalities structure this initiative. First, a unified platform for the institution’s various grants, which not only provides a summary of the key aspects of each call, but also offers step-by-step instructions on how to apply for them. Second, the consolidated version of the Grants Map, allowing users to explore, filter, and consult all Balearic aid schemes available to cultural professionals across the archipelago. Finally, a new news hub gathering all the activities promoted by the organization.

In parallel, the transformed Illes Balears Film Commission portal has focused on offering a series of digital tools to serve the audiovisual industry. First, with the creation of a new professional directory, more complete and interactive than the previous one, enabling both individuals and companies to showcase their profiles on an internationally accessible platform. Additionally, in collaboration with the various public administrations of the archipelago, a total of eight guides have been developed to assist in the process of applying for filming permits in different locations across the territory. Third, a new section has also been launched under the name “Filmography”: a database listing the main audiovisual productions (local, national, and international) that have been shot with the Balearic Islands as their backdrop.

ICIB’s managing director, Diana de la Cuadra, stressed that “with these two new portals, we are not only more accessible to citizens, but we are also actively streamlining their administrative procedures.” She added that these functions reinforce “our determination to promote, strengthen, and highlight the cultural industries of the archipelago.”

It is also worth noting that both platforms were developed with the graphic design of Enrique Presa and the programming of Refinería Web. Equally significant was the contribution of public administrations, professional associations, and cultural sector companies, which either collaborated in developing the various digital resources or provided essential graphic materials to achieve the visual results of both projects.
