For the first time, the ICIB supports the board game industry while also including video podcasts among its beneficiaries
In addition, the final resolution of this call introduces a new category dedicated to cultural programming
The Balearic Islands Institute of Cultural Industries (ICIB) published this Saturday the final resolution of its aid programme supporting cultural projects across the archipelago. This line of grants, with a total budget of €575,000, will this year provide support to up to 43 regional initiatives. Furthermore, for 2025, the programme introduces several new features compared with the previous call.
Among the main updates is an initial boost to the board game industry, which appears among the 11 beneficiaries belonging to the publishing sector. Also noteworthy, within the podcast category, is the inclusion of the video podcast as an eligible format for funding. Likewise, a new category has been launched, aimed at cultural programming, which on this occasion has supported up to 7 different proposals. All this while maintaining support for the traditional disciplines of this call -performing arts, music, and visual arts- which account for a total of 11, 3, and 7 supported projects, respectively.
“It is vital that the ICIB promotes the growth of new cultural industries, such as the board game sector, within the context of the Balearic Islands,” stated the institute’s managing director, Diana de la Cuadra. She also noted that “at the same time, this aid must adapt as faithfully as possible to the changing needs of each discipline in order to accompany the growth of those sectors already consolidated in the territory”.
The deadline to justify the total cost of the subsidised projects will take effect from Monday, 27 October. Beneficiaries will therefore have until 31 January 2026 (inclusive) to complete this process.
