In its quest to promote cultural creation in the Balearic Islands, the ICIB works to foster both the growth and the consolidation of the region's audiovisual fabric. Through this effort, it supports the various professional agents involved in the production, distribution, exhibition and dissemination of this discipline. Thus, while encouraging connections between different creators, the industry and the administration, it also provides technical support to the many actors in the sector.
In this regard, the Balearic Islands Institute of Cultural Industries offers two lines of grants dedicated exclusively to this discipline. Firstly, aid for the production and co-production of audiovisual works, including the creation of feature films, short films, television units, miniseries and web series. Secondly, aid for the international promotion of audiovisual products, which is essential for boosting the internationalisation of Balearic culture. Both grants are awarded in parallel with the institute’s grant for the modernisation, innovation and technological development of cultural industries, through which it is possible to purchase, for example, video cameras, spotlights or sound equipment.
In addition, the ICIB coordinates and manages the Balearic Islands Film Commission. This is a free service that aims to promote the archipelago as a destination for film shoots and audiovisual events, both national and international. It also provides counselling to productions interested in working in the Balearic Islands and public administrations with responsibilities in the field of filmmaking, in all cases with the aim of streamlining procedures and simplifying administrative formalities.
